The Moons

Permanent Public Video & Landscape

2006

The Moons was created as the Percent-for-Art component of the Sprint Arena, in Kansas City, Missouri. In front of the huge glass arena, I created a plaza with three elliptical gardens, each with a water component. Hanging above each of the gardens is a moon, a circular LED video screen.

For three days in September of 2006, an open call was held in Kansas City for anyone who wanted to take part in the project. Participants were videotaped jumping on trampolines. The resulting footage was edited so that the participants appear to fly across the moon screens, orbiting the arena.
