Social Structure II

Social Structure II, an outdoor sculpture for the US Embassy in Sarajevo, is a cedar timber structure with inset, laser cut panels of powder-coated aluminum. The imagery for the panels is drawn from the mountain forests that surround the city. To produce the sculpture, four artists from Sarajevo, Navid Bulbulija, Nela Hasanbegovic, Muhamed Kafedzic, and Iva Simcic were invited to photograph the forest. From their photos, drawings were made and then translated into the patterns and then cut into the aluminum.
